He lost his fated mate and he'll stop at nothing to get her back.

Luke became obsessed with Johanna the moment he saw her. It wasn't just her beauty, it was the essence of her, the way she smiled, the way she laughed. But no matter how much he wanted to claim her, the mate bond never snapped into place—until the day his enemy dragged her away.

As a plus-size witch, Johanna has spent her life as an outcast. All she's ever wanted was to feel loved, to belong. Finding her fated mate should have been the miracle she'd always hoped for—instead it was the start of her destruction.

Captured and tortured, Johanna has been forced to betray Luke in unspeakable ways to protect him, leaving her nothing more than a scarred and broken shell of herself.

Luke will risk everything to save her from their enemies. But even if he does, can he save Johanna from herself?

“Yes, sunflower?”

She licked her lips and his gaze flickered there, capturing the motion before returning to her eyes.

“Back at the bar, you … you called me your wife.”

He smiled and answered unashamed, “I did.”

Her breathing hitched in her throat, making his grin grow.

“B-but that means things,” she murmured.

“Things?” he said, teasing her. “What things?”

She narrowed her eyes and smacked his arm. “You know what things. Love. Marriage.”

“It does? I had no idea.”

“Luke!” she said, exasperated, but it only made him laugh harder.

He bent down, his face level with hers, and whispered, “Is there something you’re trying to ask me, sunflower?”

She bit her lip and her gaze heated before it slid away from his. He brought it back with a gentle squeeze of her chin.

“I called you my wife because that’s how I think of you. You are my mate, the other half of my soul. You delight me, you drive me crazy, and I know now that the reason fate made me immortal was to meet you. I may have called you that word in the heat of the moment, but that’s because it’s how I feel. My intentions are to marry you one day, my vicious little sunflower, and if you’re asking my feelings for you, well…” He smirked. “Yes, I love you.”

She gasped, her eyes growing wide at the confession, but it was him who was shocked when her mouth, seconds before in a perfect little “O”, pressed against his.

Luke had imagined kissing Johanna more times than he could count. He fantasized about how soft and warm her lips would be, how delicious she would taste, the soft noise she would make when he parted her lips with his tongue. He craved the way she’d sigh into his arms and moan in her pleasure. What he had never imagined, though, was that she would kiss him first.

This series is so addictive. You will want to sit still and read all three books at once. I love Luke and Joanna’s relationship. The way they work so well together but yet again I guess that helps with being fated mates. Their journey together so far is so healing. I love how much of a badbutt Joanna is. She is so awesome. I love Melissa Cummins books. She is such a great writer. I cannot wait to continue the series and read book three.

I liked this PNR storyline with danger, drama, rescues, healing, chemistry, and love. The MCs are defined, strong, determined, empathic, and love deeply. I found this book entertaining and enjoyable.

Five stars does not do this book justice. You have a little bit of steamy, witty, and plenty of emotions. A book you definitely want to read, it’s a great series.

(See review from book 1) I wasn't sure if we could trust Johanna with what happened at the office, but thank God I was wrong. I may love her more then Dani, or well yeah maybe a little more. I feel like I can relate to Johanna more. And OMG her fight with Zachariah was awesome!!!!! You go girl… On to book 3

""""""""""""""""A house can be repaired or fixed, or a new one bought, but there is nothing in this world that matters more than you.”

Whoo! This is the type of development and tension I wanted in book 1 from Greg and dani! I adore Luke and Johanna! There was tension. There was spice. There was history. And there was development. I think the author found their stride in this book. Johanna herself is amazing. Just her character made the book worth it. It wasn't Dani, who felt two-dimensional. Johanna suffered so much, and I cried for her! She suffered so she could protect her mate. And Luke is a dream!! Protective and would do anything for Johanna! I love them together. I'm so glad that Zach got what was going to him!! Ugh, I hated him in the first book. He made me feel icky!!
